The real Italian Pesto Genovese cannot be made by a standard kitchen machine. According to the original recipe the ingredients must be crushed with a pestar & mortar to get the traditional taste. When the ingredients are cut into small pieces not the same constituents are extracted and therefore this must be manually crushed. Since manually making pesto can be very time consuming, this mechanical pestar & mortar has been designed.
